Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What cards does Russix support?
A: Any Atheros chipset based card - only.
This is because the Atheros Chipset is the only reliable packet injection based card and packet injection is required for WEP and WPA attacks.
Q: What do I need for the Evil tiny Twin attack?
A: You will require 2 (two) Atheros based cards, usually one internal and one external (PCMCIA or PCI Express). There are good cards available from a variety of suppliers, and we are looking to locate a Ubiquiti card distributer for the UK as these guys make awesome cards (300 mW too!!!)
We will post a hardware list soon and a list of links to card suppliers and distributors.
Q: Can Russix break WEP keys?
A: Yes, follow the instruction from here.
Q: Can Russix break WPA and WPA2 keys?
A: Yes,
Q: Can I use any dictionary?
A: Yes, the scripts use a small dictionary file from aircrack called dict. It is located in /RUSSIX/misc. There is a larger file called password2.txt in the same folder so you can 'mv' it to dict if you wish.
Q: Will you be adding DNS and a Web server
to Russix
A: No, that would turn the Russix "Evil Tiny Twin" into a Script Kiddie killer phishing tool, and that would be bad.
Q: How can I get video driver X into Russix
A: Email russ (russ@russix.com) with details of the driver and ideally, find a slax module that supports your video driver and we will add it into the build.
